Why the London/NY Overlap Is My Highest-Probability Session
After months of live demo testing across multiple sessions, one window consistently outperforms everything else: 13:00–16:00 GMT — the London/New York overlap. Here’s why it works and how I exploit it systematically.
What Makes the Overlap Different
During the overlap, two of the world’s largest financial centers are simultaneously active. This creates the highest liquidity conditions of the trading day — tight spreads, strong directional moves, and the kind of sustained trends that reward EMA-based systems like my 2-Min Strategy EA.
What I Avoid
Evening sessions (18:00 GMT+) consistently underperform. Volume thins out, price action becomes choppy, and false crossovers increase. The MACD confidence filter catches many of these, but session selection is the first line of defense.
The Data Behind the Decision
My TwoMinStrategy Journal tracks win rates segmented by session, pair, and confidence tier. The overlap session numbers speak for themselves — higher win rates, lower variance, and better risk-adjusted returns across EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCAD, and GBPJPY.
If you’re trading binary options on MT5 and not filtering by session, you’re leaving significant edge on the table.
